This part of Wales is host to
many special events
from county shows, music festivals & car rallies.
I've selected some of my favourites,
some are literally are on our doorstep
and others are slightly further afield, all are within an hours drive.
March
- April
Lambing
We house all our ewes in January ready for lambing. If you would like
to experience lambing "hands on", come & stay with us in
March. To see "Mother Nature" in action is quite something.
However if April suits you better, come & see our lambs playing, racing
& literally bouncing off the ground.
As the lambs grow & get stronger, lamb races are a common sight in
this valley!
May
Royal Welsh Smallholder & Garden Festival
This festival will be held in Builth Wells (approx. 1 hours journey from us). There is plenty to see and do for keen smallholders & gardeners alike. Farmers Market
Every fortnight in Llandovery on a Friday or Saturday, "Farmers Markets" are to be had. Local produce is for sale and is always of the highest quality. Llandovery is an old market town. Years ago it was on the Drovers route, hence the large choice of public houses. The drovers are history, but the pubs remain!

The show is held at Builth Wells. We are very proud of our Royal Show,

largest of its kind in Europe and is attended by thousands of people every
year. It has different very exciting attractions for each show, but the
main parade of livestock, where the best of the best are led into the
main ring, is always a highlight. The flower tent, the food hall, the
craft tents, the forestry section...there is so much to see & do here,
you need the four days to get around it all!

The eisteddfod commences around lunch time with local children reciting, singing and playing their instruments. The atmosphere becomes more tense for the "open" competitions, and later on in the day we actually have a "chairing" ceremony for the winning poet. These "eisteddfodau" are part of our Welsh culture. If you are at all interested in things that are Welsh, try our local, friendly eisteddfod.
